although there are other cottages/homes around, we consider the place pretty private and spacious. The screened in porch would have been nice except it was rainy and cold over the weekend we stayed at the cottage. The place has all the basics that you need and the grocery (foodland) is about a 20 min drive. A city get away. Richard and Leah are really easy on the check in/out. Appreciated that!

Richard and Leah's cabin was great for a tranquil weekend getaway. It had everything we needed and was warm and cozy place to spend a rainy long weekend. We loved having coffee in the screened-in front room and listening to the sound of the rain in the mornings. Richard provided us with a warm welcome upon check-in and gave us tips on nearby trails. Overall a great stay!

This is a very functional home in a lovely, natural area that is closely connected to other homes and people. It would be a great place to come for a family weekend away. Jasper the cat will always greet you at the Marina store and Richard and Leah are great hosts!

The location of this cottage was perfect for hiking and outdoor activities. Very quiet and serene place. The hosts were helpful with any questions we had. The cottage had WiFi and darts which we enjoyed. The bedroom with the double bed had a comfortable mattress. The front screened porch was my fave. Sitting listening to the birds in the morning with my coffee was a treat. Our stay here was great and definitely made our long weekend special.

I went to this cottage for a little winter get-away with two of my school friends and we had a great time. The cottage is pretty simple, but its very homey and was well equipped for making your own meals. They also provided everything else you would need like towels, bedding, etc. There are some snowmobile trails that you can walk or snowshoe on nearby and the roads are nice for walking too or, if you are more adventurous, Kawartha Highlands is not too far. They don't have trails but it is fun to cut your own! In the evening we could warm up by the wood stove and play darts or board games. The cottage is pretty close to the marina and to another little cottage but since it was winter there wasn't really anyone else around so it was quiet and peaceful. There is a little hill leading up to the cottage though so if you go in the winter, make sure you have your snow tires on!

We had a nice stay at the cottage. Everything was conveniently arranged by phone (directions, where to pick up keys etc). The cottage itself was cozy and had a well equipped kitchen for cooking our meals. The downstairs area had a nice wood stove and a collection of boardgames to spend a fun evening. Overall a nice place to stay for a getaway from the city!

Leah and I had a nice long chat by phone the day before coming up to the cottage. She gave me explicit directions, was very organized and clear on where we could find more help if needed. Communication was easy before and during the stay. The cabin had been heated for our November visit before we arrived - a warm welcoming to the weekend. And we had everything we needed in the kitchen for our many delicious meals. Leah was considerate enough to provide us with orange vests to wear while we hiked, since it was hunting season. (Something we really needed!) The cabin is located at a Marina. It is driving distance to trails that access Kawartha Highlands from the West side. We enjoyed our escape from the city immensely.

My friends and I absolutely loved this cottage. The cottage was extremely cozy and was equipped with everything you need from blankets, pots, pans & kitchen utensils, to towels and freshly made beds. I read a review about how the owners are super close to the cottage. The owners are close but it did not affect the stay what-so-ever. My friends and I felt safe knowing the owners were close by. The cottage is not on the water but it's less than 5 minutes of a walk to the water from the cottage. We weren't able to enjoy the fun activities because of the weather, but there's easy access to these activities, including canoeing or swimming in the lake. We brought a dog up with us and the cottage is very dog-friendly. There was a dart board, board games, and plenty of seating for a group of friends (there were 6 of us). Other learnings: The marina close by sells ice (the marina is a less than 5 minute walk)...There's a bbq (and the owners provide propane)...There's wifi (no TV - but who cares!)...There's a spot within the cottage for garbage/recycling and you can do laundry if you wish but bring detergent...There's a Foodland 5-10 kms away from the cottage. We will definitely be returning to this cottage!

This was a quintessential Canadian cottage experience - just the way we like it! Simple and practical, we were able to immediately settle in and just enjoy our surroundings. My mom commented on how well stocked everything was, with beds made - she said this was above her expectations for the value! A beautiful lake, GREAT fishing for all ages and levels. Our family rarely gets the opportunity to be together, and all of us from 7 months old to grandparents thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We totally loved this place. Just a short walk to the beautiful Missisagua Lake. The apartment has everything you need and is very spacious. Richard and Leah and everybody else at the Marina were very friendly and helpful and recommended a lot of beautiful places to go to. We totally recommend this place!

We had such a great time at this cottage. The place is pretty big, and you'll have everything you need (except a TV, but you don't go there to watch tv). The place was so silent and relaxing, much appreciated when coming from Toronto. Take advantage of the pedal boat to go on the great lake, or rent a canoe there. There is also a small store in the marina, which is pretty convenient if you are out of bread or bacon! There are also some good trails around the cottage and great provincial parks nearby. Would definitely go back.

We loved everything about our stay at Richard's cottage. 4 of us (2 couples) arrived to be greeted at the marina by Richard's daughter, who was lovely and showed us around. The cottage is a simple 2 bedroom home, and the hosts provided everything we needed. The place was clean and tidy and we felt very comfortable during our stay. Loved the simple layout, the large deck and outdoor space, the clean bedding, and swimming at the sandbar. The cottage is located just a few steps from the Little Gull Marina, where there picnic tables and access to water. We ended up taking the paddle boat out to the sandbar just across the marina, and it was so much fun. The water was warm and clean. The hosts also run the small store at the marina, so should you forget anything you can buy the necessities there. Overall we had a nice, relaxing stay, and would definitely consider coming back.

We had the perfect weekend getaway at Richard and Leah's cottage, which is in a beautiful, secluded location with lots of amenities (including a store at the marina in case you forget to bring anything). The cottage looks as listed in the photos, and was clean and spacious when we arrived. Leah showed my boyfriend and I around the cottage upon our arrival, and was responsive before we arrived. I highly recommend this place!

We had a great time at the cottage on Mississauga lake! Leah was a good host and showed us all around the cottage and property. It was well kept and clean and just steps away from the waterfront marina. We took out the paddleboat a few times and our two year old daughter loved it! It was a perfect little get away from the everyday.

Beautiful property, everything was as listed. My group was 5 girls total, sleeping arrangements workout out well. Kitchen was fully equipped, I didn't even have to bring glasses or plates! The cottage has many basic necessities, they had toilet paper which was great along with garbage bags and recycling. Such a welcoming family atmosphere it was a pleasure to meet them, they answered all of our questions. Took the canoe out and the paddle boat, awesome rental rates and the water is serene. There's ice cream and a grocery store along with lcbo in a town not too far away (30mins or so) but down at the rental place located on the same property they have many things you'll need like bread, milk, juice, butter ect. Such a great experience!! Thank you all so much :)

We had a great time away at the Lake Cottage, on the first day we had problem getting the heating on but Richard sorted it out straight away, even getting the log burner going to warm the place up whilst we were out for us to return to! Very close to the lake shore and marina and we even rented some Kayaks for a day from the marina. Lovely place with loads of space and would happily stay again.

Although it was off-season, this place was still great and exactly what we were expecting for a cottage experience. Richard is a very welcoming host, giving us a detailed tour as well as answering any questions we might have had about the area + cottage. The cottage was clean when we arrived, stocked with a kitchen + utensils, beds with clean sheets, and multiple living areas to hang out in. Would definitely come back to this place in the summer, I can see how this would be a great getaway during warmer times!

Richard and Leah's Cottage and hospitality tremendously exceed my expectations. It is a spacious and generously furnished cottage. I really appreciated the well equipped kitchen through which I cooked and served our group of 6. It has a large porch and screened seating area that my friends and I were able to enjoy even during the winter. Everything was clean, organized and simple. There is a beautiful little marina steps away from the cottage which I would imagine to be lively during the summer for which I will be back to visit.
